The lush, green forest hid many things in its confines. Here, of all places, was where Ralthara was prowling the foliage. Deep icy blue eyes were focused on the herds of deer up ahead in a clearing not far from where she stood. Lucky for her, there was no ray of light beaming on her silver scales to give her away. Instead, it was now working for her. Her scales reflected the trees and bushes all around her making her blend in more easily. Save for the hint of pink on the bridge of her nose where she had been scarred for the rest of her life by another dragon.
What type of dragon and his name, she would never know. Just that it had been a nasty encounter all the same. Her whole body went rigid as she prepared to shoot out and make her attack. Normally, she would just breathe her ice breath but she didn't want to. Often thinking it was rather lazy of others to just up and flame the deer instead of making the chase. Chasing one's prey often kept the dragons in shape. She had to do it a number of times as a youngling. To most dragons of her clan, she was still a youngling to them yet was their own leader. Ralthara was the first ever female dragon leader of her clan as well as the youngest. Making history for both spots. The elder dragon leader whom had made her his successor, had chosen well. Ralthara was keen, a good fighter, and well spoken. Meaning that she was full of high hopes for her clan's future.
Her scales, if anyone were to examine them, would notice a slight sheen of ice on them as well. Adding to their effect if she were to stand in broad daylight. Her scent was out of her prey's range and Ralthara had the element of surprise for them soon enough. She was about to spring at them when a crash nearby startled not only herself, but her prey. Ralthara gave a sigh of frustration before looking towards the source of the noise and sniffing the air cautiously. After all, she was the leader of the ice clan and if any other clans were suddenly declaring war, she was in danger. Still looking in the direction from whence the noise came, she called "Who goes there?" Her soft voice made it obvious how young she was and that she were a female dragon. The males tended to have a gravelly voice or deep and thunderous the older they were. To not spark any suspicion amongst them like an enemy would, she said "I am one of the ice clan." If it were a clan leader from the other clans then they'd recognize her voice or one of their higher ups below leader.

Ancalagon hurtled to the ground, falling like a bullet through teh canopy of trees almost spread-eagled, though spinning and smashing thorugh their leaves; he snarled as teh branches whipped past his snout and tore his wings slightly though the snaring branches would never pierce his tough scales, relic of Fire Clan of which he was Leader of. He twisted in teh air as he fell, he was attempting to shake off his adversory who now flew far above him, having shot a bolt of lightning thourgh Ancalagon for trespassing slightly within Lightning Clan territory. He was furious. He had been flying aginst teh borders, and the Lightning Clan patrol had attacked without warning and shot a bolt of lightning which had paralysed him as he fell, but now he writhed as he fell through the trees, control of his limbs coming back to him. He finally came to land in a black heap in the midst of many branches, leaves and mud which had been thrown up as his great form smashed into it, and it covered his entire left flank and half his face which became apparent as he stood up slolwy, his limbs still shaky from the shock of the intesity of teh lightning energy which had passed through him.
He bared his teeth in a snarl, anger pulsing through him like the lightning had, his blood-red eyes burning with fury. Lightning and Air clan were becoming unreasonable and increasingly hostile to any, and took any opportunity to attack anyone for any reason under the sun. Ancalagon was becoming increasingly infuriated by the two clan's behavior and had had enough. Thier attack on a fellow clan's Leader was as bad as declaring war on it.
While he was brooding on his angry thoughts, he heard a familiar voice calling through the trees cautiously, and he recognised it as Ralthara's, and this was confirmed when she declared herself from Ice Clan. He shifted so he was standing straighter and facing teh direction of her voice before replying gruffly "It is I, Ancalagon of Fire Clan." he wasn't in the mood at all for niceties, and the anger was still in his eyes as he looked through teh trees for a glimpse of silver. He ruffled his wings and stepped out of the small hollow of mud and grass and leaves which he had made upon arrival and shook his head as he lowered it like a bull who is about to charge, dislodging with his front claw a wedge of mud upon his grey horn. He looked around a tree and saw Ralthara peering at him cautiously.

Ralthara thingyed her head when a gruff voice returned her question with an answer. Her suspicion of one of the feuding dragon clans had subsided. Still, judging by the sound of this voice that was familiar, she knew to be careful. It was Ancalagon and he seemed angry. Very angry, at that. Slowly, she searched for the source of his voice and soon spotted his head from around a tree not too far off. Keeping her distance but coming into easy view, Ralthara gave a respectful nod to show she meant no hostility towards him. "It is I, Ralthara, leader of the ice clan. Forgive my question, I was being cautious since I was hunting and knew not of whom it was. Greetings, Ancalagon though I see you are unhappy and not in the mood for an encounter. Dare I ask if you are alright and what has happened? Never before have I seen you so angry before....is it one of the feuding clans?" she said to him in a calm, polite manner.
Her clan wasn't at war with anyone but there was always a chance for it to happen. Still, she didn't want to cause one by mistake. Which was why she was always polite towards the other dragon clan leaders. Ralthara knew Ancalagon may not answer her, and she wouldn't hold it against him since it was his own affair. She needn't know if he didn't want to speak. Ice dragons and fire dragons were seemingly on steady footing. Still, she had to tread carefully. With the feud going on between the air clan and the lightning clan, there was no telling when or if the other two clans would end up getting involved. Ralthara didn't want for that to happen but if there was no other choice, then she would show whatever clan that her's would end up feuding with would see the cold fury of the ice clan. The feud was tiresome and the other clans that weren't involved in this feud had to be highly cautious if they dared to tread nearby the territory but not actually set foot into it. For that simple fact, the ice dragons had become rare out here in the free lands. It was even extremely rare to encounter Ralthara out here like she was since she had made it clear to her clan to keep safe and stick close to their own boundaries so as to not get pulled into unnecessary conflicts.
Ralthara even had to have her security tighten around her borders but the guard was reasonable towards any clans. As long as they weren't wrathful towards her clan, Ralthara wasn't wrathful towards they. Still, it wasn't like fire dragons and ice dragons were best buddies either. They mainly kept to themselves most of the time. That didn't mean their encounters were unfriendly, more like neutral. Out of the three clans, Ralthara would rather encounter the fire clan than the other feuding two. The fire clan was far more reasonable than the other two clans right now. "The feud between the air and lightning clans is becoming tiresome. I understand it is their own affairs but there's no reason for them to be overly hostile towards the clans that aren't involved. I had to order my own clan to steer clear of them because of it." She shook her head. "So far, I've had no reason to consider warring with them, but if they start something out of line then I will have no choice but to retaliate."

Ancalagon tried to control his anger, but it was difficult considering his own fiery temper. He closed his eyes and bowed his head slightly in an effort to contain it, but a snarl was beginning to lift teh corners of his lips and he opened his red eyes saying quietly "Yes, the feuding clans become tiresome... I have just been attacked by one of Lightning Clan's patrol along their borders!" his eyes narrowed and he growled in fury at teh memory, taking his eyes from Ralthara and down to teh forest floor. Suddenly he let out a roar of fury and smashed a heavy claw into teh earth before him, teeth stilll bared.
"Forgive me..." he said after a short pause. "Their selfishness infuriates me - they care not who they attack now and I have had enough of it. A few days back, Lightning clan again attcked one of my patrols; within our own borders!" he looked up at Ralthara teh indignity of it...
He scraped a razor sharp talon through the earth, causing great scars in its surface. He managed to hold in his anger for teh time being; he didn't want another battle between Ice and Fire Clan, considering they were on reasonable footing at the moment. He did not care that he was telling what was going on in his clan (which is meant for clan eras only) to Ralthara - surely she was having teh same trouble and would understand his anger. He was on the brink of declaring war on Lightning Clan now, though would need to discuss it with his Deputy and General...

Ralthara remained at the safe distance she was at. She could clearly sense his anger and knew well enough to keep her distance. No need to cause anything unnecessary. She gave a slight incline of her head upon hearing his words. "I see, how petty their behavior has become...if they don't watch themselves, they will surely be causing yet more problems for themselves involving more enemies if they keep at it." She didn't even flinch as the fire dragon gave a roar of anger.
Being a fire dragon that he was, as well as the highest of their standards, Ancalagon needed a good time to cool down. Looking at him with her icy blue eyes, she could already assume what ideas were surging through his mind. Lightning Clan just possibly may have caused Ancalagon to declare war against them for attacking him needlessly. Truth betold, she could understand since that was literally an act worthy of declaring war. Fire dragons had hot tempers but not without reason. Her silver, scaly brows furrowed slightly upon hearing the issues Ancalagon has dealt with. So far, she hadn't much problems but there have been cases where her own clan had been attacked on the outside of their borders in the free lands.
"How very foolish of them. I have not dealt with a problem like that within my own borders, but my own clan has been attacked for just roaming the free lands on their own accords not even going near their territories only to end up being run from the free lands themselves. I, like you, am getting fed up with their quarreling. My clan, as I'm certain your clan as well as yourself, know that my clan is becoming rare to spot out here....it's because of the feud going on. I will not allow my own dragons to traverse out here without a watch from now on. The air clan and lightning clan are just going too far with their arguments. To be honest, they are acting a lot like younglings!" she allowed a slight mist of ice escape her nostrils which made snow sprinkle out to drop harmlessly to the ground itself. The cold, held back anger was in her voice. Ralthara may be more calmer than a fire dragon, but her anger was just as vicious once pushed over the edge.
Shaking her head, she spoke again "I could not blame you for feeling so angry right now for I would be just as furious. Attacking a leader is just like saying they wish to do battle with that particular clan." Indeed, Ralthara could understand the fire dragon leader's rage. She may not have had such problems yet but when she does, she wouldn't go easy on the clan that started it. As of right now, her own clan was on high alert in their own borders. Her dragon warriors have been prepared since the attacks on ice dragons outside the borders had begun. Any clan that dared attack without good reason might as well cause the ice clan to go to war with them. Ice dragons were calm and cool but they weren't going to let some other clan attempt to do anything to them in their homelands.
She made to speak again but the sound of wings in the air made her head snap towards the skies. Her eyes seemed to go cold as she watched five dragon figures circle the area and stiffened. Sniffing tentatively, she went cautious. "The fools dared to have followed you here!" she spoke in a low, icy tone. Not directed towards Ancalagon, of course. Just that this meant there may be some trouble here.

Ancalagon kept his eyes on Ralthara as she spoke, still burning with anger. This was a typical trait of Fire Clan dragons, but Ancalagon was unlikely to attack Ralthara because he was not foolish enough to start a war with Ice Clan right now... However, he tried to let some steam off by sharpening his horns of the tree infront of him, gouging his fury into the bark leaving deep scars in it, sap oozing from them. AT her last words however he looked up with a snap, his eyes glaring up into teh sky through teh thin canopy of leaves above and he snarled, razorlike teeth bared, smoke leaking from his nose and through his teeth. "How dare they! I'll rip them apart!" he said, thorugh half a snarl, and with that he launched into the sky and he unleashed his fury into the sky now, wings beating ferociously at the air. He roared at teh opposing clan dragons and snarled "You foolish scum! You dare to attack me, Leader of Fire Clan?! You shall feel my wrath now, or else tell your leader Fire Clan declares war on you!" and he shot at the dragons, whose faces were scathing and mocking at Ancalagon, but at teh mnention of him being the leader, which they had apparently not known, now looked terrified and streaked away as Ancalagon flew hot on their heels jets of fire scorching their tails and wings. Ancalagon finally left them at teh border of their own land and hovered there, glaring after them, red eyes alight with hunger for more. He felt he could have torn them apart then and there, but now he regretted his actions. Now he had declared war on Lightning Clan he must prepare for war... He hoverred, absorbed in his thoughts for a while, just thinking...

Ralthara knew well enough that Ancalagon, though he may be angry, wouldn't attack her unless she triggered his anger which she wasn't doing right now. Her icy blue eyes watched as the fire dragon shot to the air after his pursuers. Of course, that was the trait of fire dragons' rage. It was fiery and explosive. She kept to the ground knowing this wasn't at all her affair. Still, she found that the ones he chased off weren't the only company that arrived here.
Calmly turning around, after leaving the concealment of the trees, Ralthara gazed upwards at the approaching members of the air clan. Her demeanor remained calm and collected when they swooped down and landed before her. Some were even foolish enough to hiss at her. "Leave ice dragon!" came one of the member's voices. Ralthara merely tilted her head to the side. "Oh? And who has the right to tell the leader of the ice clan to leave the free lands?" she replied coldly and sternly. Almost immediately they shrank back when they realized who she was.
"I advise you to leave my clan members alone since they've nothing to do with your feud....dare to harm one and I will hunt you down. I am not one to cross and my vengeance is frosty. Don't tempt me!" she hissed in warning. Almost immediately, the air clan members fled from her. No need to confront a leader when they weren't as strong in stature. It was obvious that she was bigger than they and more built. Snorting at their fleeting backs, Ralthara turned around to look in the direction from where Ancalagon had taken off to. She wouldn't wish to be on the receiving end of his fury.
A loud, crisp and cold call drifted through the air. A call for her from her ice clan. Tilting her head, Ralthara sighed. "Here I was expecting to get myself a meal and here I am, having to return to heavens knows what!" Leaping into the air, Ralthara gave a powerful flap of her wings. Bringing her skywards before flapping them strongly again until where she could soar in the stream of winds. She flew past the mountainous area where Ancalagon had landed unbeknownest to herself before searching the nearby woodlands. She could've sworn she heard the call coming from down there. Like an eagle, she circled the area of the woods and then spotted the situation. Below, there was a few ice clan members being harassed by lightning clan members.
"These quarrels might never cease!" she said to herself before darting downwards. Opening her wings to pull her just at the right moment so she wouldn't slam into the ground as she came to land before the five lightning clan members that were bothering three of her ice clan members. "What is the meaning of this?" she asked in a voice that could freeze one's blood if it could do such a thing.

Ancalagon broke out of his musings as he saw a streak of blue fly away which was Ralthara and eventually down into the deep forest again. He looked curiously after her, noticing her anxious expression and noting the fact that he himself was in danger of Lightning Clan attack. Making his decision, he flew after her, long black tail trailing in his his own slip-stream; a great black shadow following Ralthara's trail, down into teh forest canopy...
He heard the commotion and sensed the tense atmosphere as he approached, and he dived through the leaves to come to land beside the Ice Clan dragons, facing the hostile Lightning Clan dragons, just in time to hear Ralthara's last few sentences. His eyes fixed on them in a glare, his lips curling back to reveal a deadly set of teeth; he was still furious with their clan after all... "I know why they're here Ralthara; they thought they'd liek to take on a few Ice Clan dragons because they felt like it... Easy targets I suspect, as they out number them; 5 to 3..." he was advancing on them slowly now as he spoke, his voice a low growl, voice dripping with distaste and fury and his eyes blazed into the Lightning Clan dragon's faces. He must have looked intimidating; a huge black lizard, wings furled above him, black as night, teeth dripping saliva and eyes blood-red, as though reflecting the state they'd be in if he attacked...

Ralthara's own hatred had been sparked as she glared icily at the lightning clan dragons that dared to harass her own clan members. One of them was clearly a youngling since they were just the size of a small horse. "How dare you harm my clan and even a youngling!" she snarled. Her voice was cold the entire time as she advanced slowly towards them as well.
Her gaze was severely hardened as though they were of ice shards. Her manner was rigid and poised. Ready to do battle and teach these rogues a lesson worth learning. Snorting, which allowed a puff of snow escape her nostrils, Ralthara glared at the five of them. Approaching just as intimidatingly. "I don't go easy on fools that dare attack my own clan. You five should've stuck to your own boundaries rather than going and picking a fight...Now, I daresay, you five may never see the light of another day." she seethed.
Of course, Ancalagon could take them all on his own but this was really Ralthara's problem here. Not his seeing as these weren't the ones that dared to bother Ancalagon. Still, she didn't mind the fire clan leader's presence. Just as long as she got to tear apart a few herself. To teach these imbeciles to watch out with whom they were messing with. Her teeth gleamed as she revealed them to her enemies. Eyes remaining unblinking as she and Ancalagon slowly were closing in on them.
